Explore options for a Business to Consumer Tire company to offer app based services to their client base - Including but not limited to:
- Finding an auto garage near users current location
- Tracking tire size, tire options, and tire installation.
- Identifying wheels - wheel preview for upgrade from OE
Finding an auto garage near users current location
Use case scenario
Driving down the freeway the user experience a blow-out. You pull over to side of road and activate your app. Your vehicle information including tire size is already loaded into the app. You are shown nearest tire store/garage, to your location. a quick search is conducted to see if your tire is available in stock or if there is someone available to do a patch. You have the option of calling a tow or having someone dispatched install your spare. - Alternate variant allows for new tires to be installed on site.
Most companies don't keep spare inventory on hand. Logistics were rather complex. Does this act as an alternative to AAA?
Further exploration was required. This project was of great interest and certain aspects of the project were explored for further development.
Tracking tire size, tire options, and tire installation
User is interested in buying new tires but was not familiar with how to read tire size. User pulls out phone and takes picture of front and rear tire. Camera reads the sidewall and loads tire size into app.
There was not enough contrast in lighting on tire to be able to easily identify the tire sizing.
While this idea was praised as innovative, the challenge was reading black on black lettering on tire sidewalls. It was determined that the effort was not worth the development at the time of the project.
Identifying wheels - wheel preview for upgrade from OE
User see's a car with rims that He/She likes. Pulls out phone and takes picture of the wheels. Using finger to center the focus on the wheels - Once focus is achieved, user snaps photo and the image is searched for a match and lists several comparable wheels based on OE equipment for the vehicle. Alternate Version also allowed for user to capture a picture of their own car and super impose it over the desired wheel photo.
